Ever since we purchased our house in April, I wanted to do a few changes to make it feel a bit more "us". While it was a huge perk to move into a newly painted, updated home, I felt a little guilt about changing some things right away. Luckily, there isn't much I'm changing outside of just adding in our own touches with decor, but I did want to change the dining room color. Lately I've been inspired by moodier dining rooms which is so not like me, but I kept being drawn towards it. I also thought it was time to say goodbye to my "everything has to be light and neutral" ways and try something new!
As a refresher, here is our dining room before:

To everyone's surprise, I chose a dark, moody almost-black color for the walls. While our dining room isn't big, it does get a lot of light so I felt okay choosing such a dark color for this space because of the lightness. I'm happy to report that after living with this color for a good month and a half, it definitely doesn't feel too dark and we all love it!

While there's still a few things I'd like to update, I'm loving the darker color! Eventually we will swap the chandelier for gold, possibly update the curtains, and add sconces to the side of the window here.
